is the death of humanity. Seriously. Why do I put up with it?
I hate what I see there. There is no intimacy anymore. Who in their right mind would post pictures of their baby’s delivery room, letters to loved ones, family members grieving after a funeral? Not that rare on facebook. It is sick. It is despicable.
By making those sorts of beautiful experiences public to distant acquaintances, lost friends, and strangers you cheapen something magnificent into the everyday valueless trash that doesn’t matter in a week.
I want to see a picture of my sister holding her baby in the hospital bed with greasy hair, tears in her eyes, and full of joy, but I want her to be sitting next to me when I see it for the first time. I want that intimate experience that defines human interaction of a real encounter, a shared moment. I want to share her joy, share her hug, hold her new baby and listen to the story. That picture means something then.
On facebook 5 people gave it a careless “like.” Was the bastardization of the most important moment of your life worth getting those 5 careless affirmations? I hope so.
My best and worst experiences are sacred. They will never be shared in such a cavalier manner. God help us.
Can’t you have a filter?
